What is Liverpool AI?
Liverpool AI — trading as LiverpoolAI at liverpoolai.info — is an AI consultancy based in Liverpool, UK. We design, build and ship production AI systems for businesses across Merseyside, the North West and the wider UK.
We are not an agency, not a model reseller and not a platform. We are engineers and strategists who treat AI as a production engineering problem: scoped to a number, evaluated against real data, shipped in weeks, owned by you afterwards.
Who we work with
Most of our clients are operators in Liverpool and the North West — logistics, healthcare, finance, legal and retail. Some are in London or further afield, attracted by the work, not the postcode.
We are most useful to teams that:
- have a real operational problem, not a slide-deck AI strategy
- can name the number that needs to move
- want to own the resulting system, not rent it forever
- prefer fewer, better people on the call than a stack of account managers
What we do
Six services, structured the way most engagements actually break down. Pick the one that fits where you are; we will meet you there.
- AI Strategy & Roadmap — a clear-eyed audit, a ranked list of AI opportunities, and a costed plan your board can sign off.
- Agentic Automation — custom AI agents that run multi-step workflows end to end, with humans in the loop where it matters.
- Conversational AI — retrieval-grounded assistants, support copilots and internal knowledge tools that are accurate, on brand and cited.
- Data & AI Infrastructure — pipelines, vector stores, model orchestration and observability — the layer that turns prototypes into products.
- Document & Vision Intelligence — extraction, classification and OCR pipelines for invoices, contracts, forms and imagery.
- AI Enablement & Training — hands-on training, internal tooling and governance so AI becomes a capability you own.
How we work
A deliberate path from ambition to a live system: short loops, real data, no theatre.
- Map — we audit your operations and data and pinpoint where AI creates measurable value and where it does not.
- Prototype — a working proof of concept in weeks, evaluated against real data and a clear success metric.
- Ship — we harden the prototype into production: integrated, monitored, guardrailed and documented.
- Scale — we hand over, train your team, and stay on as long as you need to expand what works.
Median time from kickoff to a live system is six weeks. A scoped proof of concept ships in two to three.
Why a Liverpool AI consultancy
There are good reasons to work with a consultancy based in Liverpool specifically, beyond the obvious one of being in the same time zone as you.
- The North West is our home market. We know the operators, the funders, the talent pool and the public-sector routes — including the LCRCA AI and data programme for businesses based in the city region.
- We are not a London consultancy with a Liverpool office. Our senior people live and work here. When a project needs us on-site, that is a short journey, not a logistical exercise.
- The size is the point. The best AI work in the city is being done by small, senior teams. We are deliberately one of them.

- Northbank Logistics — replaced a manual triage queue with a document intelligence pipeline. Claims throughput up 60 per cent, two FTEs redeployed to complex work.
- Mersey Health Group — retrieval-grounded internal assistant for clinical administration, deployed across three sites.
- Granby Finance — multi-step reconciliation agent that surfaced exceptions a human team had been missing.
- Harbour & Croft (Legal) — contract review pipeline with full citation and a defined refusal behaviour.

How to start
If any of this resonates, the fastest way to find out whether we can help is a 30-minute discovery call.
We will tell you, honestly, whether AI is the right tool for the problem in front of you. If it is, we will propose the smallest possible first engagement that would prove it. If it is not, we will say so, and tell you what would be the right tool instead.
Frequently asked
Is Liverpool AI the same company as LiverpoolAI?
Yes. "Liverpool AI" is the spaced form of our name; we trade as LiverpoolAI at liverpoolai.info. Both refer to the same Liverpool-based AI consultancy.
Do you only work with Liverpool businesses?
No. Most of our clients are based in Liverpool and the North West, but we work with teams across the UK and occasionally beyond. The Liverpool name reflects where we are based and where we are most active, not a postcode restriction on who we can help.
What sectors do you have the most experience in?
Logistics, healthcare, finance, legal and retail are where most of our shipped work lives. We do not specialise — the underlying engineering is broadly the same — but the domain familiarity in those sectors is real. We have written sector field guides for legal, logistics, healthcare and finance work in Liverpool specifically.
How long does a typical Liverpool AI project take?
Median time from kickoff to a live system is six weeks. A scoped proof of concept ships in two to three. A full strategy and roadmap engagement runs three to four weeks end to end. Larger agentic and multi-system builds run eight to fourteen weeks.
What does a Liverpool AI consultancy cost?
Typical first builds run between £18,000 and £140,000 depending on the project type — document intelligence sits at the lower end, agentic workflows at the upper end. Strategy and roadmap engagements run £12,000 to £30,000. We publish full per-project pricing in our cost guide.
Do you do training and enablement, or only build?
Both. Our AI Enablement & Training service exists specifically to make sure your team ends up owning the result. It is one of our most-requested engagements, usually delivered alongside or after a build.
What is the minimum engagement size?
A two-week scoping engagement or a three-week proof of concept. Both are sized to be a small fraction of a full production build, so neither side overcommits before the work is proven.
Why should we hire a Liverpool AI consultancy instead of a London one?
Two reasons in practice. First, you work with our senior people directly — no account management tax, no London consulting markup. Second, our delivery team is actually in the city — for clients in Liverpool and the North West, on-site days are a short journey rather than a logistical exercise. For more on what to ask any consultancy before signing, see our buyer's checklist.
How we differ from the rest of the Liverpool AI landscape
If you search "Liverpool AI" today you mostly get the University of Liverpool — their AI BSc and MSc programmes, their research groups, their library guides. There is a reason for that: the academic AI presence in Liverpool is real and world-class, and we draw heavily on its talent pipeline. But it is also distinct from what most operators in the city actually need.
Here is how we sit in the local landscape, honestly:
vs the University of Liverpool
The University runs strong AI degree programmes and serious research labs. We are the commercial complement: we hire from the university's graduate pipeline, we collaborate on industry placements where it makes sense, and we ship the systems that academic research alone cannot. If your need is research collaboration or staffing pipeline, talk to the university. If your need is a production system that moves a metric, that is us.
vs the LCRCA AI & Data programme
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority runs an active programme for AI and data investment in the region. We work alongside it — LCR-based clients who use their funding routes still need someone to actually build the system, and that is where we come in. For very early-stage exploration where you might qualify for innovation funding, talk to LCRCA first; for the build itself, talk to us.
vs national training providers
Generic UK training companies offer "AI training in Liverpool" as one of many city pages on their site. Our AI Enablement & Training service is meaningfully different in two ways: first, it is delivered by the same senior engineers who ship our production systems, not a separate trainer-only team; second, it is paired with hands-on tooling and a governance framework rather than a slide deck. We cost more per day; we leave more behind.
vs London consultancies with Liverpool addresses
A handful of London-based AI consultancies have opened Liverpool offices for marketing optics in the last two years. The honest test is to ask where the engineer who would do the work actually lives, and how often they would be on-site if your project needed them. For us that answer is simple — they live here, and on-site is a tram ride away.
vs other Liverpool-based commercial AI firms
The city has a small but growing cluster of independent AI consultancies. We respect the good ones and refer work both ways when scope fits another team's strengths better. Where we differ is the deliberate narrow focus: production AI engineering for mid-sized businesses across logistics, healthcare, finance, legal and retail. We do not do anything else — not chatbot websites, not generic data-science staffing, not vendor-led platform resales.
